Rick Faby has been named a managing director and regional executive in Baltimore by Deutsche Bank Alex. Brown. He joins the bank after more than a decade at Morgan Stanley, where he was a senior vice president, was head of the Baltimore operation, and helped launch the firm’s North Baltimore office and five others. • Dan Salkovitz writes: “In December 2006, I was profiled in the Richmond Times-Dispatch newspaper, highlighting my 23 years as an air pollution forecaster/meteorologist for the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality in Richmond, Va.”

Amy Feifer reports: “This past October, I participated in the Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk in Philadelphia with eight friends on ’Team Haverford.’ We trained beginning in April, raised over $35,000 in total, and amazingly walked 60+ miles over three (mostly rainy) days. It was one of the most challenging things I have done and was truly inspirational. I am considering walking again in the Philadelphia event in October 2007.”

In February 20, Kathleen McDonald Watson, Esq., was named the director of the Defense Security Service (DSS). She had been the acting director since May 2006. Prior to being assigned to DSS, she was on temporary assignment as a staff attorney in the Department of Defense Office of General Counsel where she provided legal support to the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence.

Tom O’Donnell, Ph.D., of RETTEW, an engineering, planning, and environmental consulting firm, has been chosen to serve as an advisory member to the Governor’s Renewable Agricultural Energy Council in Pennsylvania. As an advisory member, he will provide the council with expertise on environmental, land development, and permitting issues. A professional geologist registered in Pennsylvania and Florida, Tom has more than 30 years of technical and management experience in the fields of geology, water resources, environmental sciences, and land development. • In January, Pa. State Senator Jane Orie (R-Allegheny) was elected to serve as minority whip for the 2007–08 legislative session. She is making history by being the first women in Pennsylvania to be elected to a Senate leadership position. She was first elected to the Senate in 2001 after four-and-one-half years in the Pa. House of Representatives. • The Board of Trustees of The Derryfield School named Craig Sellers as the seventh head of school. He formerly served as the head of school at United Friends School in Quakertown, Pa. Craig recently returned from a Fulbright Scholarship in Thailand. • Andrew Soto, Esq., joined the American Gas Association (AGA) as senior managing counsel of regulatory affairs. AGA’s members include 200 natural gas utility and energy companies that serve 69 million Americans. He will represent AGA natural gas distribution member companies primarily before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and develop and execute advocacy strategies in the area of federal regulatory affairs. Soto was previously with Sutherland Asbill & Brennan.

Peter Schoch reports: “I was awarded my second M.S. degree this past summer. It is from the University of North Dakota in space studies. The thesis topic is ’Enhancing Freshman Physics through the use of Space Studies Topics.’?”

Sharon Nackenson-Curtis and her husband, Sandy, announce that Ryan Charles has joined their family. They have two other sons, Brett and Ethan. Sharon and Sandy have opened an Edible Arrangements in Avetura-North Miami Beach where they currently reside. This will be the first of a number of locations that will be opening over the next 18 months. • Jay Susanin hosted a wine-tasting event Feb. 24, for Philadelphia area alumni at his new frame shop, Palladio, which is located in Ambler, Pa. Jay earned a J.D. from Dickinson School of Law in 1995 and opened his shop in 2001.
