Sustainability Takes Next Step with Wohlsen Opening
Franklin & Marshall unveiled its new hub for sustainability on Nov. 20 with the opening of the Carolyn W. and Robert S. Wohlsen Center for the Sustainable Environment.
Designed to consolidate the College's wide-ranging initiatives relating to sustainability, the Wohlsen Center, housed in the former Central Services building, includes a high-tech seminar room, student commons and laboratory space.
The day-long celebration included a talk by Ned Tillman '71 about Chesapeake Bay watershed conservation. At the dedication ceremony President John Fry thanked the Wohlsens for "this transformative gift that galvanizes the community around this issue" and credited F&M students with helping to lead the Colleges sustainability efforts.
The ceremony culminated with Bob and Carolyn Wohlsen's presenting a ceremonial key to the students.
